Milford man charged in weekend boating accident
DOVER (Sept. 7, 2010) - A Milford man was charged with negligent operation of a vessel and failure to maintain a proper lookout after the boat he was operating struck a navigational aid between Bowers Beach and Cedar Creek on Saturday morning, Sept. 4.

DPH INVESTIGATES SECOND DELAWARE VRSA CASE
Test results received yesterday by Delaware's Division of Public Health (DPH) indicate that a New Castle County female became the second Delawarean to develop the rare vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (VRSA) infection. VRSA is a type of antimicrobial-resistant staph bacteria. While the CDC has not documented VRSA to be communicable, as a precaution DPH investigates close contacts of these individuals.

Plover season winds down, seabeach amaranth findings up
The piping plover breeding season has drawn to a close in Delaware. Piping plovers are still being seen on Delaware beaches but at this point the small shorebirds could be plovers that nested here in Delaware or migrants from another state or province.

Dover -- Interested persons are encouraged to participate in the development of the state's six-year Capital Transportation Program (CTP) for Fiscal Years 2012-2017, by attending a public hearing jointly sponsored by the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT), Dover Kent Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), and the Council on Transportation. DelDOT's Kent County public hearing is set for September 15, 2010, from 4-7 p.m. at the DelDOT Administration Building, 800 S. Bay Road, Dover.

DelDOT's Sussex County public hearing is set for September 16, 2010, from 4-7 p.m. at the DelDOT Georgetown Administration Building, 23697 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown. DelDOT will have project boards on display and representatives will be in attendance to discuss various projects in the work plan.

DNREC fines Wilmington company for pollution
DOVER - Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control Secretary
Collin P. O'Mara issued a Notice of Administrative Penalty Assessment and Secretary's Order to IKO Production Wilmington, Inc. for violations of the Delaware Code, regulations governing the control of air pollution and its permit. The order includes a cash penalty of $9,900 and an additional $1,485 as cost recovery reimbursement to the DNREC for expenses associated with the department's investigation.

DelDOT to Suspend Construction Projects over Labor Day Weekend
Dover -- The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) reminds travelers to anticipate increased traffic on Delaware's major highways starting on Friday, September 3, for the upcoming holiday weekend. Peak travel times are expected to occur from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 3 and Monday, September 6. All construction projects underway will be shut down by noon on Friday, September 3, except in the event of an emergency.
